Kevin Garnett believes Anthony Davis will play for Lakers: 'It has to happen'
[–]CelticsCJMustard 739 points 1 day ago
WTF. First Pierce, then KG. What, is Ray Allen gonna come out and push AD towards the Lakers next?
[–]Lufs10 160 points 1 day ago
Why not? The trifecta is already there. Rondo, Pierce and KG. Why not make it a quadfecta?

"I told Anthony Davis this to his face," Garnett told USA TODAY Sports in a telephone conversation this week. " 'You are not playing against the guys you are squaring up against every night. You are playing against history, man.'
"Anthony Davis playing in New Orleans, I don’t want to say they are wasted days, but they are non-days. He needs to be somewhere where he can be with another guy and they can have a run at a championship. He has been in New Orleans long enough. It is time for a change now. This is it. No better time to do this."

It blows for Pelicans fans that this is the ultimate narrative for AD that's being pushed

I would probably hate all laker fans and the media so fucking much i would transcend salt

Nah I for one am past it. It’s unbelievable. The Boogie Cousins trade fucked us for a long time. We’ll probably end up trading AD if he doesn’t sign his extension, then we’ll lose our franchise. AD gave us a lot but we just couldn’t do it.

It just sucks. You can't blame ad but this whole situation how it feels like the media is influencing him to leave is kinda wack.

This is how everyone was with PG13 last year. It was soooo satisfying when he signed with OKC last summer.

Yea but this a.d. stuff is on another level so far. And a.d. isnt even a free agent this summer. This is unique, to say the least.

It is a narrative being pushed, but I think if we're being honest, this is exactly what several people envisioned happening when he re-signed a few years ago. NOLA hadn't done much to put a team around AD, which is just baffling because AD is just rare. 60 guys get drafted every year. The odds that you find another player like him in the draft, you could literally wait a lifetime for it, or it may never happen at all. So to see him just kind of flounder in NOLA, I don't understand it. There's no sense of urgency in NOLA, from what I can tell anyway.
They went out and got Julius Randle, who I think is a phenomenal player, but if I'm being honest, Randle still has a bit of developing to do, as he should at what.. 23? 24? He was a great player to pair with AD, but AD + Randle + Jrue.. that's not a contender, and the clock is ticking for AD's eventual free agency. NOLA hasn't given AD any reason to want to come out and say "I'm here to stay. We're close to figuring this thing out."
This story exists because there's just cause for it. The NBA.. man, it may seem like guys playing 15-16+ years is a long time, and it is, but the window of being a prime athlete with the skill to lead a team to a championship, it doesn't last forever. Guys want to win now. Injuries happen, free agency happens, trades happen, the trials of and tribulations of life, no one is immune to any of it. The good times simply will not and do not last forever. NOLA needs to prove to AD that they're serious about winning NOW. There's what.. 7 weeks until the All-Star break? They better make the most of it.

Didn't KG say that he regretted not leaving Minnesota sooner even though he loves it there and wanted to win there? I could easily see why he'd be pushing for AD to not make the same mistake.

He told LeBron the same thing in 2010 when Celtics eliminated Cavaliers "Loyalty can hurt you. You can't get your youth"

I mean KG was carrying the Wolves hard and it was never enough. Only dude that carried a team more in the last 30 yrs was bron. KG gave everything he could to Minnesota

bronbron carrying the cavs to the finals in 07 was something special

Can't get fined by the league, if you're not employed by the league. Taps head

KG is one of the most qualified people to hold that take
[–]NuggetsTheEagleHasNotLanded 29 points 14 hours ago
KG is a top ten to fifteen all time player who does not get the respect that his legacy deserves because he wasted away in his prime in Minnesota.
I really believe KG had a better prime than Kobe and was right up there with Duncan, but championships speak louder than talent.

Laker fans to KG:
